Family Dentistry in Guelph
Guelph families have trusted us for dental care for over 30 years. We believe that education should form the foundation of children’s dental care so we take the time to help you and your children learn about good oral hygiene and diet. Together we can help your children develop the good habits that will lead to a lifetime of good dental health.

When should your child have their first dental appointment?
The Canadian Dental Association recommends that babies should have their first visit to the dentist within six months after they get their first tooth. This lets us check the health of their mouth and jaws and make sure their teeth are growing in correctly.
There are a few things you can do to make your child’s visit to the dentist a little easier for them. You can arrive to the office early to let your child play in the waiting room. This lets them get used to the office before they go into the examining room. It also helps if you bring along one of their favourite toys and make sure they have had plenty of rest.
To keep your child from becoming anxious stay positive about the visit and avoid threatening your child with a trip to the dentist if they don’t brush their teeth. Show them videos or books about a trip to the dentist.
What happens during your child’s dental appointment?
Children’ dental appointments usually begin with a cleaning and fluoride treatment. Then a dentist will examine their mouth and jaws for signs of decay, gum disease and infection, and to check the growth of their baby and adult teeth.
